John Stuart, after numerous attempts, was the first man to cross the continent from Adelaide to the Gulf of Carpentaria. The Exhibition was called “Great Scott” and features Stuart in his clan tartan. Stuart succeeded in his venture unlike Burke and Wills’ whose expedition ended in disaster.
